About the SIMI Irish Motor Industry Awards

The SIMI Irish Motor Industry Awards are conducted in partnership with Bank Of Ireland Finance.

The 7th Annual Awards, celebrate best practice in the Irish Motor Industry, acknowledge the hard work and successful achievements of SIMI members during these tough economic times. Celebrating everything that is good about the automotive trade, the awards are open to the widest possible cross-section of the Irish motor industry. 

The awards were held in the Clayton Hotel Dublin on Thursday, February 16, 2017, in conjunction with the SIMI Annual Dinner. All businesses from across the motor industry are invited to enter the awards, which aim to celebrate the industry leaders and recognise the amazing achievements made by these businesses over the last 12 months.

SIMI and Bank of Ireland Finance, wish to congratulate all those who entered.

This is awarded to the best franchised car retailer, one that is able to show evidence of a high quality sales function, exemplary customer service and an innovative approach to business.

This award will go to the best business operating exclusively within the commercial vehicle arena, one that is able to show evidence of a high quality operation, exemplary customer service and an innovative approach to business.

BODYSHOP OF THE YEAR
The Bodyshop of the Year award is open to all body repair businesses – including bodyshop departments of independent or franchised workshops – and will recognise a repairer’s commitment to exceptional quality of work and business performance.

MOTOR FACTOR OF THE YEAR
This award will recognise excellence in the supply of car parts and accessories, particularly as demonstrated by quality of customer service and competitiveness.

Motor Factor of the Year-John Delaney Motor Factors, Fair Green, Drogheda, Co. Louth

For each of the awards categories listed above, the judges looked for evidence of exceptionally high levels of customer satisfaction and value for money, a commitment to high quality work standards, details of successfully-introduced business initiatives and training programmes, as well as proof of consistently strong – or dramatically improved – business performance.

Independent After Sales Operation of the Year

Green Auto Service based in Enniskerry Road, Kilternan Dublin 18 has been named ‘Independent AfterSales Operation of the Year’. Judges praised and recognising the business, “for prioritising customer needs and the delivery of value for money alongside a commitment to minimising environmental impacts across all aspects of the aftersales operation”.

SIMI Outstanding Achievement Award
Winner: Robert Prole Founder of Contact After Retirement

Mr. Robert Prole received the Oustanding Achievement Award “in recognition of his significant contribution to lives of so many people who have retired from the Motor Industry".

Judges praised the team at Frank Keane Volkswagen, recognising,“For sustained commitment to excellence through the provision of premium brands by a highly professional sales team.”

Winner: Holcroft Motors 

Peugeot main dealer and workshop, Holcroft Motors in Drogheda Co. Louth, has been named ‘Franchised Aftersales Operation of the Year’. Judges praised Holcroft Motors, recognising, “A consistent commitment to exceeding customer expectations, while achieving the optimum balance of workshop productivity and affordable maintenance.”

Winner: Frank Byrne Autobody Repairs


Frank Byrnes Autobody Repairs, based on Galway’s Oranmore Business Park, Galway has been named ‘Bodyshop of the Year’. Judges praised Frank Byrnes Autobody Repairs, recognising the business for “Continuously refining standards and processes, optimising the customer experience and implementing a sustainable, strategic management plan.”

Independent Retailer of the Year 
Winner: Naas Gearbox Centre Co. Kildare



Independent vehicle transmission engineering and repair specialist, Naas Gearbox Centre in County Kildare, has been named ‘Independent Operation of the Year’. Judges praised Naas Gearbox Centre, recognising, “Its achievements in the highly-specialised industry of transmission technology, combined with a sustained commitment to innovation and quality service.”

SIMI Outstanding Achievement Award
Winner: Rosemary Smith

This accolade has been awarded to Rosemary Smith an individual who has positively impacted on the Irish motor industry and deserves recognition for her resulting achievements.
