The SIMI’s training department is continuously undertaking to create new courses to aid members with the development of their knowledge. E- Learning is an initiative that we are currently developing and hope to provide members with details of E-Learning in the future.
SIMI has teamed up with I-CANDO Learning to offer members a chance to avail of a Digital Skills Programme which is funded through the national training fund and is therefore FREE to SIMI members. I CANDO Learning is a company specialising in innovative learning programmes whose aim is to give all learners a positive and engaging online learning experience.
I-CANDO is the new lifestyle digital skills programme, where you can learn all the skills needed to get the most from everyday technology and helps you learn in a practical and safe way. The learning modules offer 60 hours of online, interactive, guided learning to help you learn the following modules:
I-CANDO enables candidates to confidently progress and develop their skills in using digital devices to develop exciting new digital skills to communicate, share, and learn. The programme makes learning easy and allows you build new skills in a relaxed environment and at in your own time. The programme also has accessibility features for dyslexia, cognitive, visual impairment, colour blindness and literacy.
Who is the course for?
The I-CANDO course is for anyone from any age group who wants to learn or improve their digital skills.
Where can I do the course?
The course is hosted directly on-line, no download, CD/DVD.
Members will be given individual user name and password.
Individual learning record visible to learning manager e.g. modules completed, hours spent, time of last access and assessment performance.
On-line assessment with automatic learning plan generation for scores less than 60%.

Accredited by the Digital Media Forum and I-CANDO Learning, it is also mapped to a number of FETAC entry level 3 minor awards and by British Computer Society in the UK. (FETAC and BCS certification requires the learner to take the program in a FETAC or BCS approved centre and will incur course fees). All learners who successfully complete the program will receive a Digital Media Forum and an I-CANDO Certificate.
