SIMI Skillnet was established to develop career paths for those entering and working in the Motor Industry and provide professional training and qualifications for all grades of employment in the industry.

SIMI applied for and received substantial funding from SKILLNETS LTD, to subsidise training for SIMI network members during 2014 and 2015. Skillnets Ltd is funded through the Department of Education and Skills.  All of the SIMI Skillnet courses listed below are jointly funded, by member companies and the Training Networks Programme. The benefit of the SIMI Skillnet subsidy is that course fees are now at least 30% less than normal rates.

We provide opportunities to employees in SIMI member companies to enhance their skills and gain new competencies which will increase the competitiveness and profitability of their companies. In offering the same training to unemployed job seekers, at no cost, the programme also aims to improve their chances of gaining employment in our industry for the first time and for those who previously worked in the Motor Industry, enhancing the skill levels to increase their chances of recruitment by being able to demonstrate their additional skills and competencies in new vehicle technologies and business practices.

SIMI Skillnet is funded by member companies and the Training Networks Programme, an initiative of Skillnets Ltd. funded through the Department of Education and Skills. See more www.skillnets.ie
