The Redundant Apprentice Placement Scheme will be available (subject to funding) until 31st December 2013.
FÁS with the support of the Social Partners, is providing a temporary Redundant Apprentice Placement Scheme for apprentices who have been made redundant due to the reduction in economic activity.

- Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
- Agricultural Mechanics
- Vehicle Body Repairs
- Construction Plant Fitting
The purpose of the Scheme is to give redundant apprentices the opportunity to complete on-the-job phases 3,5 and 7 to enable them to progress in their apprenticeship.
FÁS,with the support of employers, will place a redundant apprentice with an eligible employer who will provide workplace training and assessment for Phase 3, Phase 5 or Phase 7 of their apprenticeship. The maximum period of placement is 26 weeks for apprentices on phase 3 or 26 weeks on Phase 5, or 12 weeks on Phase 7.
FÁS will pay a weekly allowance directly to eligible apprentices during the period of placement, based on a 39 hour week for the respective phases.
Employers in the Public & Private Sector are eligible to participate in the scheme, provided they meet the following criteria:-
(a) Currently are approved to employ a registered apprentice(s) on a full time basis
(b) If not currently employing apprentices may apply to FÁS for approval to participate in the scheme subject to satisfying the criteria to train apprentices
(c) Must not have made an apprentice redundant in the 12 month period prior to the date of application.
