A Company based in Dublin 12 is currently recruiting for the role of Service Advisor & Administrator to work within a Leasing / Service / Sales environment.
The ideal candidate would need to be fully experience in running a busy service department. Experience in the leasing industry is also an advantage.
Excellent Administration skills would be required for this role.
The primary tasks are as follows:
• Handle telephone calls and walk in requests from customer wishing to book service or repair work. Handling Telephone Calls from Lease Customer wishing to book vehicles in for Servicing or Tyres in our own Workshop or in our network of Garages throughout Ireland.
• Determine workshop availability using the internal Garage System
• Ordering Parts & Tyres for Workshop
• Meet and greet the customer when they arrive with their vehicle, give out replacement cars, change insurance over.
• View Replacement Vehicles on return for any damage, over mileage. Make sure replacement cars washed, cleaned and fuelled for covering all services.
• Complete Job Card with clear information on each piece of work to be completed by the Workshop.
• Liaise with customers while their vehicle is in the workshop to inform them of the estimate of the costs involved in any additional work and obtain authorisation for all such additional work. Ensure that the Customers vehicle is ready for collection at the pre-agreed time.
• When the customer arrives to collect their car, explain all service and repair work completed item by item and how this is reflected in the invoice.
• Notify customers when backorder parts become available, arrange appointment and schedule into workshop.
• Manage booking to maximise workshop productivity
• Assume some appointed duties of the Service Manager or other staff members in their absence
• Organise Services / Tow Trucks repairs throughout out network of Garages outside Dublin, and organise replacement vehicles through Enterprise.
• Complete Administration for the Service Department both internal and external
• Organise DOE Test for our Leasing Vehicles and organise Motor taxing for our Lease Vehicles
• Completing Paperwork for Lease Returns, and appointing Independent Assessor to review any Bodywork damage.
• Update Company website with Second Hand Cars for sale
• Update Facebook / Twitter with all Vehicles for Sales & Special Servicing offers
• Update Sales / Service Databases
• Various Monthly Reporting, i.e. Workshop Productivity

Am I eligible to apply?
Educational Requirement
Apprentices must be at least 16 years of age and have a minimum of grade D in any five subjects in the Junior Certificate or equivalent. However, employers may require additional minimum qualifications.
Where individuals do not meet the minimum requirements they may be registered as an apprentice by an employer if:
• They satisfactorily complete an approved preparatory training course and assessment interview. For information on these courses please contact your local FÁS Office;
or
• They are over 18 years of age with a minimum of three years relevant work experience and satisfactorily complete an assessment interview.
Apprentices must be employed in their chosen occupation by an employer who has been approved by FÁS. The employer must register the apprentice with FÁS within 2 weeks of recruitment.
An apprentice is a person who works for an employer in their chosen occupation and gains the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies to become a qualified craftsperson. The duration of an apprenticeship is a minimum of 4 years. The apprenticeship system is a modular standards-based system comprising of 7 alternating phases of training and development four on-the-job and three off-the-job. On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will receive a FETAC Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft. This qualification is recognised both nationally and internationally.
Other Requirement:
A person wishing to become an apprentice in one of the select automotive categories must pass a colour-vision test (the “Ishihara” Colour Vision Test 24 Plate Edition).

Apprentice of Year Competition
The National Skills Competition has been running since 1956 and in September 2010 over 100 apprentices and students from around Ireland competed in DIT for the much coveted Silver Medal Award over the four days of competition. The overall competition included fifteen different skills sets with particular focus on the Motor Industry in the areas of Automobile Technology, Autobody Repair, Car Painting, and Heavy Vehicle Mechanics.
SIMI Automobile Apprentice of the Year 2011
Each year SIMI presents a trophy to winner of the Automobile of the Year Competition. Pictured below is Eddie Murphy SIMI President presenting the SIMI 2011 Automobile Apprentice of the Year Trophy to Paul Furlong, overall winner of the National Skills competition for Apprentice Motor Mechanics.
SIMI would like to congratulate all the participants who took part in the competition and wish them well in their future careers in the Irish Motor Industry.
