Press Officer of SIMI Suzanne Sheridan said, “The 5,000 reclaims made under scrappage to the end of April do not show the full picture, as a number of deals have been completed but the application for the scrappage refund has not yet being issued to Revenue. The level of sales resulting from the scheme represent a great success to date, in terms of boosting Government revenues and sustaining jobs. We expect this trend to continue with scrappage sales expected to be more evenly spread throughout the year than other sales as more 10 year-old cars will become eligible for the scheme as the year progresses. Scrappage has been the success we predicted".
