Before you fill out the complaint form please complete the following checklist to indicate if your complaint is within the scope of the SIMI Consumer Complaints Service.

Checklist

1. Is the company a SIMI member?

The Consumer Complaints service deals with complaints relating to the purchase of vehicles and the service or repair of vehicles by SIMI member companies. Complaints relating to non member companies are outside the scope of the SIMI Consumer Complaints Service.

2. Have you issued legal proceedings?

Complaints which are the subject of instituted Court proceedings are outside the scope of the SIMI Consumer Complaints Service.

3. Have you contacted the Company?

If you havent already done so, you should attempt to contact senior management of the company prior to submitting a formal complaint to SIMI.

4. Is your complaint older than three months?

Complaints should be referred to the SIMI within 3 months from the date the cause of the complaint first manifested itself. The SIMI reserves the discretion to allow complaints to be dealt with through the Consumer Complaints Service if they are referred after 3 months from the date the cause of the complaint first manifested itself, if the circumstances justify the SIMI doing so.

Note: A copy of this form will be sent to the Member Company for a response.
