Motor Industry seeking to recruit more than 20 Vehicle Body Repair Apprentices

SIMI members in the Vehicle Body Repair Sector, in Carlow, Cork, Dublin, Galway and Meath are currently seeking to recruit Apprentice Vehicle Body Repair Specialists for a rewarding career in the motor industry.

The job a Vehicle Body Repairer is varied and rewarding and involves having a comprehensive knowledge of vehicle body construction, the ability to assess vehicle damage, prepare estimates, carry out body panel repairs and replacement, body alignment, and to be skilled at spray painting. 
The overall duration of this apprenticeship is a minimum of 4 years provided all phases are successfully completed.  
  
On successful completion of the programme the learner is awarded a Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft – Vehicle Body Repairs. 
Training is provided in 7 Phases of on-the-job and off-the-job training.   
Off-the-job training is delivered in a Training Centre or Educational College; trainees are paid while they are with the employer and receive a training allowance while attending the Training Centre or Educational College. 

Although the minimum education requirements for an apprenticeship are Grade D in five subjects in the Department of Educational & Skills Junior Certificate Examination or approved equivalent - some employers may require applicants to have successfully completed their education to Leaving Certificate level. It should also be noted that while not essential it may be an advantage to have previous experience of the following subjects; Mathematics, Technical Drawing/Graphics, Metalwork, Technology and Physics.
